Overview
Sykes Mountain carries the potent, vision-inducing energy characteristic of the Pryor Range, where the Crow have sought spiritual guidance for generations. The mountain's elevation and isolation create conditions conducive to the altered states of consciousness associated with vision questing, and visitors often report vivid dreams, heightened intuition, and encounters with unusual natural phenomena in the area. The presence of the Little People is still reported by contemporary visitors, and the landscape has a watchful, responsive quality that suggests active spiritual presences. The wild horses that roam the range add a quality of untamed vitality to the mountain's energy.

History, Archaeology & Significance
Sykes Mountain is a peak in the Pryor Mountains of south-central Montana, within the traditional territory of the Crow (Apsaalooke) people. The Pryor range holds deep spiritual significance for the Crow, who regard it as a landscape inhabited by powerful supernatural beings including the Little People (Nirumbee), small humanoid spirits who bestow medicine power on vision questers. The mountains contain numerous documented vision quest sites, stone structures, and rock art that testify to centuries of ceremonial use. The U.S. government established the Pryor Mountains Wild Horse Range in the area, which also preserves one of America's few remaining herds of wild mustangs.
