Padmanabhaswami Temple

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India

Overview

The sealed Vault B represents a gateway or portal protected by Naga (divine serpent) guardians. Legend states the door can only be opened by an enlightened Rishi who knows a specific mantra calling upon Garuda – a being found at both the gateway to Heaven and Earth. The city's name ('divine serpent') and the region's reputation as 'God's own land' point to the site's energetic nature as a major node where portals between Worlds were once accessed. The 'sound stitching' pattern between the vault doors connects to the concept that sound is the key to opening gateways at energy nodes.

History, Archaeology & Significance

The Padmanabhaswami Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, located in Thiruvananthapuram (meaning 'city of the divine serpent'), the capital of Kerala – a region known as 'God's own land'. The current golden temple was built in the 18th century but its seven underground vaults are much older. Six vaults have been opened revealing vast gold treasures and 3,000 bundles of Cadjan leaf manuscripts dating nearly 2,000 years. Vault B – sealed with an iron door bearing two Naga serpent carvings – remains unopened and is protected by legend.

Rory's Field Notes

Located in the 'city of the divine serpent' (Thiruvananthapuram) in a region called 'God's own land'. The sealed Vault B has two Naga serpent carvings (Naga Paasam and Naga Bandham) and cannot be opened except by a powerful enlightened person (Rishi) who knows how to chant a specific mantra calling upon Garuda – the humanoid eagle-winged being who represents the cycle of birth and rebirth and is found at gateways to Heaven and Earth. This is the same theme found worldwide: sound is the key to opening portals at earth energy nodes. The 'stitching' pattern between the door panels has been connected to 'sound stitching' – whales have been found floating vertically sending sounds into the centre of the Earth.
