History, Archaeology & Significance
Ningi is a locality in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland, Australia, within the traditional country of the Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) people. The Gubbi Gubbi have maintained continuous connection to this coastal and hinterland landscape for tens of thousands of years, with the Moreton Bay region containing extensive evidence of Aboriginal habitation including shell middens, fish traps, and ceremonial bora rings. The area's diverse ecology spanning coastal wetlands, eucalypt forest, and montane regions supported rich Aboriginal cultural life.
