History, Archaeology & Significance
Lions Park sits within the traditional country of the Yugambeh people of the Gold Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. The Yugambeh maintained sophisticated systems of land management and ceremonial practice across their territory for tens of thousands of years. The park was developed in the 20th century as community recreational space, but the underlying landscape retains its connection to the broader network of Aboriginal sacred geography in southeast Queensland.
