Kourion

Cyprus

Overview

Kourion's dramatic cliff-top position above the Mediterranean creates a powerful energetic combination of ancient human devotion and elemental coastal forces. The Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates retains a solar, clarifying energy that visitors describe as mentally sharpening and spiritually uplifting. The site's multiple layers of worship from different civilizations have created a rich, complex energetic field where themes of beauty, devotion, and the impermanence of human achievement interweave.

History, Archaeology & Significance

Kourion is an ancient city-kingdom on the southwestern coast of Cyprus, inhabited from the Neolithic period through the early Byzantine era. Its spectacular cliff-top Greco-Roman theatre, the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, elaborate floor mosaics, and early Christian basilica reflect successive layers of civilization spanning over 3,000 years. The city was devastated by an earthquake in 365 CE, preserving a remarkable archaeological snapshot of late Roman daily life.
