Glastonbury Tor

Somerset, UK

Overview

Glastonbury Tor is one of the most energetically intense sacred sites in Europe—a vortex where multiple ley lines, geological features, and millennia of spiritual intention converge. Climbing the Tor, visitors frequently experience a progressive amplification of awareness, with the summit producing states of expanded consciousness, emotional release, and visionary perception. The Michael and Mary lines crossing here create a powerful polarity that many sense as a spiraling, ascending force. The Tor acts as an antenna, broadcasting and receiving across vast distances, and many report telepathic or precognitive experiences on the summit. The combination of Grail mythology, goddess tradition, and Christian mysticism creates an exceptionally rich symbolic field that activates different aspects of consciousness depending on the seeker's orientation. Wind, light, and the vast views across the Somerset Levels amplify the sense of standing at a pivotal point between worlds.

History, Archaeology & Significance

Glastonbury Tor is a dramatic, terraced hill rising 518 feet above the Somerset Levels in southwestern England, crowned by the roofless tower of the medieval Church of St. Michael. The Tor has been a site of spiritual significance for thousands of years—Iron Age occupation has been documented, and the terracing may represent a prehistoric processional labyrinth. In Christian tradition, Glastonbury is associated with Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail, and the earliest introduction of Christianity to Britain. The Tor sits at the intersection of the Michael and Mary ley lines, two of the most significant energy lines identified in British geomancy. The nearby Chalice Well and White Spring provide contrasting iron-rich and calcium-rich waters that have been venerated since antiquity. Glastonbury Abbey in the town below was one of the richest and most powerful monasteries in medieval England.

Rory's Field Notes

World-famous Type 5 node at the tower. Michael-Mary and Emperor lines intertwine. A 4th Order node on a par with Giza, Newgrange, Jerusalem and Mecca when it comes to sound intersections. Type 4 lines cross here creating a symmetrical intersection where, four times a year, something very special happens at the solstices and equinoxes. Has two pairs of Type 4 linear concentrations of earth energy but – unlike 2nd Order nodes – does not have an Emperor Dragon joining them. This distinction is important: Glastonbury is a 4th Order node, not a 2nd Order one.
