Bishops park

Fulham, London, UK

Overview

Bishops Park radiates a serene, protective energy accumulated through over a millennium of episcopal presence and prayer. The riverside setting adds a flowing, purifying quality to the site's field, with the Thames carrying away stagnant energies while replenishing with fresh life force. Visitors often experience unexpected peace and spiritual nourishment in the park, benefiting from the deep layers of contemplative energy embedded in the ground. The ancient pre-Christian foundations beneath the Christian layer create a rich energetic tapestry that supports both earthly grounding and spiritual aspiration.

History, Archaeology & Significance

Bishops Park in Fulham, London, occupies land that was part of the Bishop of London's palace grounds from at least the 11th century until 1868. The park fronts the Thames and contains remnants of the medieval palace including a walled moat garden. Fulham Palace itself was the bishops' country residence for over 1000 years, and archaeological excavations have revealed Roman and Saxon occupation of the site predating the episcopal use. The park was opened to the public in 1893 during the Victorian era, preserving the riverside setting and mature trees from the palace gardens. A Neolithic and Bronze Age ditch system discovered beneath the palace grounds indicates the site held significance long before Christian occupation.
