Overview
The Bighorn Medicine Wheel is one of North America's most powerful ceremonial energy sites, generating a vortex of spiritual force amplified by its extreme elevation and isolation. The wheel's geometry creates a mandala-like energy pattern that facilitates communion between human consciousness, earth, and the star nations. Vision questers report profound encounters with spirit beings, animal totems, and ancestral teachers at this site. The high-altitude location above the tree line places visitors in direct contact with sky consciousness, while the stone wheel anchors celestial energies into the earth plane. The site demands respect and ceremonial approach, responding to sincere spiritual intention.

History, Archaeology & Significance
The Bighorn Medicine Wheel in Wyoming's Bighorn Mountains sits at nearly 3000 metres elevation and is one of the best-preserved and most important Native American sacred sites in North America. The wheel consists of a central cairn surrounded by a circle of stones approximately 25 metres in diameter with 28 spokes radiating outward and six smaller cairns around the periphery. Archaeological evidence suggests construction between 1200 and 1700 AD, with ongoing ceremonial use by multiple Plains tribes including the Crow, Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Shoshone. The cairns align with the rising and setting points of the sun at summer solstice and with several bright stars, indicating sophisticated astronomical knowledge. The site continues to be used for vision quests, prayer, and ceremony by Native Americans today.
